Columbia Police arrested James C. Yearwood, 18, of Columbia in relation to an armed robbery that occurred last night in the 5000 block of Bethel Street. A 16-year-old female was also taken into custody in relation to the incident.
Columbia Police officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of Bethel Street at 11:47 p.m. yesterday in reference to a robbery with a gun. The preliminary investigation revealed a male suspect, later identified as Yearwood, pointed a gun at a male victim, 18, and demanded property. The suspect retrieved property from the victim and fled the area in a red van. A short time later, officers located the van, occupied by Yearwood and the female juvenile, at 5481 St. Charles Road, Petro Mart Convenience Store.
Yearwood was arrested on 5/27/17 at 12:15 a.m. for Armed Criminal Action and Robbery in the First Degree with bonds to be set by the Court, as well as two outstanding Felony Warrants with a total cash only bond of $20,000.00.
The female juvenile was taken into custody on 5/27/17 at 12:18 a.m. for Robbery in the First Degree with disposition to be handled by the Juvenile Office.
