Columbia Public Works announced on Friday, May 5, that the Stewart Road Traffic Calming project is scheduled to begin May 15, weather permitting. The goal of this project is to calm the traffic speeds on Stewart Road.
City crews plan to install speed humps and tables on Stewart Road, May 15-23, weather permitting. The project includes two speed tables located on Stewart Road at the intersections of Lindell Drive and Westwood Avenue; two speed humps located east of Edgewood Avenue and east of West Parkway; and crosswalks at Edgewood Avenue, Glenwood Avenue and West Parkway.
Minor delays are expected and motorist should exercise caution when traveling in these areas. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone.
The total investment for the project is estimated to be $31,800, paid for through Annual Traffic Calming Funds. Public interested parties meetings were held on Nov. 16, 2016, and Feb. 8, 2017. The City Council approved the project after a Public Hearing on May 1, 2017.
More information about this project and the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program is available at www.CoMo.gov/publicworks/traffic.
