Columbia Police officers arrested Aaron M. Greenup, 29, of Columbia early this morning after an armed robbery near 403 N. Stadium Boulevard, Mattress Firm World.
The investigation revealed a male victim contacted a subject for a ride while waiting in the area near the business. A short time later, a vehicle arrived occupied by the initial subject, a second subject, and Aaron Greenup. As the victim was loading items belonging to him and two other subjects into the vehicle's trunk, Greenup, the driver of the vehicle, began to drive away. The victim attempted to get in the vehicle as it was moving. Greenup stopped the vehicle near McDonald's, retrieved a firearm from under the driver's seat, and pointed it at the victim. The victim exited the vehicle and Greenup sped away with some of the victims' property still in the vehicle.
Columbia Police officers and Boone County Sheriff's deputies made contact with Greenup in the 10,000 block of Serenity Circle. Officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. A search of the vehicle located a "BB" gun in the trunk which matched the description provided by the victim.
Greenup was arrested at 5:00 a.m. at 10515 E. Serenity Circle for Felony Robbery in the First Degree with a bond to be set by the Court.
