Columbia Police officers responded to 10 N. Garth Avenue, Landmark Bank, today at 3:00 p.m. in reference to a hold-up/ panic alarm.
Upon officers arrival they confirmed a robbery had occurred. The preliminary investigation revealed a male suspect entered the business, approached a teller, and demanded money. The suspect retrieved an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area on foot.
As more officers arrived on scene, they located a subject in the area that matched the description of the suspect. Officers made contact with the subject and after brief conversation the subject fled on foot. A short pursuit ensued and the subject was eventually detained in the 200 block of Bryant Street. The subject was transported to the Columbia Police Department for questioning. The subject was determined to not be involved in the bank robbery. At this time the suspect is still at large.
The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, approximately 5'6"-5'9" tall with a medium build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing dark colored clothing.
