The City of Columbia Utilities Department announced on Tuesday, March 7, that beginning Thursday, March 9, at 7 a.m., Sterling Excavation & Erection, LLC plans to begin work on manhole abandonment north of Stewart Road on Providence, weather permitting.
This work will result in a temporary closure of the left turn lane from South Providence to East Stewart Road. The work should be completed and the road fully reopened by 7 p.m., Thursday, March 9, weather permitting.
Motorists, nonmotorized transportation users and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible.
