Arrests made in recent robberies at convenience stores

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police detectives have arrested Quantrell T. Brookins, 26, and Oscar Menter Brookins, 28, both of Columbia in reference to a recent armed robbery and attempted armed robbery of two local convenience stores.

On 1/20/17, an attempted armed robbery occurred at 1704 North Providence Road, I-70 Eagle Stop. The two male suspects fled without incident after observing an on-duty security guard. During this investigation, detectives located evidentiary items believed to have been associated to the suspects in this incident. The items were located on the corner of a parking lot at 1612 North Providence Road, Welcome Inn. After reviewing surveillance video, detectives identified Quantrell and Oscar Brookins as the suspects in the attempted armed robbery.

Detectives arrested Quantrell and Oscar Brookins at 4:48 p.m. today at 1612 North Providence Road each for Robbery in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action with bonds to be set by the Court.

While both Brookins were at the police department, detectives served a search warrant of their residence at 1612 North Providence Road. Detectives located evidence associated to the armed robbery that occurred at 301 Nebraska Avenue, Break Time Convenience Store, on 1/9/17. Quantrell Brookins and Oscar Brookins were additionally arrested for second counts each of Robbery in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action with bonds to be set by the Court.
