Columbia Police officers responded to the 3700 block of Hermitage Road at 12:36 a.m. today in reference to shots fired.
Upon officers' arrival, they located multiple shell casings in two separate areas. A residence on Mirtle Grove Court was struck by the gunfire. While canvassing the area, officers located a vehicle at the entrance to 2002 Grindstone Parkway, Rock Quarry Park. The vehicle had windows that were shot out, a flat tire, and blood inside the vehicle. One female subject was located with the vehicle. Officers detained the subject pending investigation and the vehicle was towed as evidence.
At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers were notified by a local hospital that a gunshot wound victim had arrived at the Emergency Room. Officers responded to the hospital to question the subject. It is unclear at this time if the shots fired on Hermitage and the gunshot wound victim are related. The investigation is on-going.
