A full Public Works crew reported for the night shift beginning at 7 p.m. to continue focusing on priority routes. So far salt has been applied at 100 pounds per lane mile.
A full crew was in place when light precipitation began at 11 a.m. this morning. The air temperature was 26 degrees. By 3 p.m the recorded air temperature was 27 degrees with pavement temperatures at 28. Pavement temperatures are expected to hover around 32 degrees from Saturday to Sunday afternoon, which may limit the ice accumulations on treated pavements.
Pockets of precipitation have fallen periodically this afternoon. These pockets of precipitation are expected to continue throughout this evening before we see a transition to periodic light freezing rain. A moderate burst of freezing rain is possible early Saturday morning. Light freezing rain will continue periodically through Saturday evening. Moderate freezing rain is anticipated for Saturday night before changing to rain Sunday afternoon.
