UPDATE - ARREST MADE IN HOMICIDE AT WELCOME INN
The Columbia Police Department arrested Jaclyn A. Rose, 33, of Columbia, on 11/23/16 at 12:51 a.m. for Murder in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Felony Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Felony Unlawful Use of Weapons.
The suspect, Jaclyn Rose, and the victim were observed on video entering the victim's hotel room on 11/16/16. A short time later, Rose was seen leaving the hotel room and was the last person in the room before the victim was found deceased. The victim was never seen leaving the room again. The victim was found deceased by an acquaintance on 11/17/16 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Columbia Police Officers arrested Rose on 11/17/16 at 2:00 a.m. for Possession of Controlled Substance Felony and Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in the 3800 block of Range Line Street (Case Number 2016-012696). At that time, officers seized a cellular phone from Rose as potential evidence related to her drug arrest.
On 11/22/16, detectives discovered the cellular phone seized from Rose belonged to the victim from the homicide at Welcome Inn. Detectives notified surrounding agencies that if they had any contact with Rose to detain her and contact the Columbia Police Department. The Columbia Police Department was notified by the Fulton Police Department that they had Rose detained. The Columbia Police Department transported Rose from the Fulton Police Department back to Columbia.
Rose was arrested on the above charges and released to The Boone County Jail.
