COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFERING FAIR & IMPARTIAL POLICING TRAINING
The Columbia Police Department would like to invite you to participate in Fair & Impartial Policing training on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 10am until 3pm. This training will be given at the City of Columbia Council Chambers located at 701 East Broadway. There will be a one hour break for lunch at noon. The lunch is not provided so it may be easier to bring your lunch.
This is the same course taught by Sergeant Michael Hestir to all Columbia Police Officers. Citizens and Media are invited to participate and see firsthand the efforts taken by the Columbia Police Department to recognize and eradicate bias in decisions made by our law enforcement officers.
The course is based on scientific studies of human bias and helps to illuminate bias exhibited by all humans. The intent of this course is to educate participants about human bias and ways to avoid their influence on decisions.
The Columbia Police Department looks forward to seeing you there.
