On Friday, August 12, 2016 the Columbia Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Locust Street at Fourth Avenue. The checkpoint began at approximately 10:00 p.m. and concluded at approximately 12:00 a.m. During the checkpoint, 94 motorists were contacted. The following arrests were made:
- Five (5) Driving While Intoxicated
- One (1) Driving While Intoxicated-Drugs
- One (1) Driving While Suspended
On Saturday, August 13, 2016 the Columbia Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on University Avenue at Matthews Street. The checkpoint began at approximately 12:45 a.m. and concluded at approximately 2:30 a.m. During this checkpoint, 81 motorists were contacted. The following arrests were made:
- Six (6) Driving While Intoxicated
- One (1) Driving While Intoxicated-Drugs
- One (1) Possession of less than 35 grams Marijuana
