At 3:59 a.m., Columbia Police officers were dispatched to 100 Business Loop 70 East in reference to a robbery with a gun.
Preliminary investigation revealed a male victim, 40, was walking towards the 200 block of Austin Avenue when he was approached by a male suspect near the intersection of Austin Avenue and Grand Avenue. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The suspect retrieved an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene on foot in a southbound direction. The victim proceeded to 100 Business Loop 70 East to contact law enforcement. There were no reported injuries or property damage as a result of the incident.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic or light-skinned black male, approximately 5'11" with a skinny build.
