The Public Works Department announced on Tuesday that City crews are scheduled to mill a section of St. Charles Road on Friday, Aug. 12, weather permitting. Once milling is completed, the Street Division plans to asphalt overlay the section on Monday, Aug. 15, weather permitting. The work is scheduled to take place on the section of road adjacent to Battle High School (see attached map).
Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users should expect temporary lane closures while milling is being performed on Aug. 12. Flaggers will be on hand to allow through traffic. Traffic is permitted on the road once it is milled, no detours are necessary.
City crews plan to return and perform an asphalt overlay on the same section of the road on Aug. 15, weather permitting. Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users should expect temporary lane closures while the work is being performed. Flaggers will be on hand to allow through traffic. Once the street is overlaid, traffic may drive on the asphalt almost immediately.
Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users should use caution in the work zones to protect themselves and the safety of workers.
