Update: Homicide in the area of Allen Street and LaSalle Place

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

                             UPDATE: HOMICIDE IN THE AREA OF ALLEN STREET AND LASALLE PLACE

 On 7/27/16 at 7:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shots fired in the area of Allen Street and LaSalle Place. Officers arrived on scene and located the male victim, Marquez Reed, age 17, with a gunshot wound.  Reed was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

The investigation revealed the victim, Marquez Reed, was involved in a disturbance with subjects in a vehicle. Reed was standing outside the vehicle when he was shot from a subject inside the vehicle. The suspects fled in the vehicle prior to police arrival.

On 7/28/16 at 6:06 a.m., Columbia Police Department Detectives arrested Jadarius C. Sanders, age 18, from Columbia, at 600 E. Walnut for Felony Hindering Prosecution and Felony Tampering with Physical Evidence with a total bond of $100,000.00. Sanders admitted he was the driver of the suspect vehicle involved in the homicide.

Columbia Police Department Detectives are asking for your help in locating Tyrone James Jr., age 18, from Columbia, on a Felony Warrant for Murder in the Second Degree and Armed Criminal Action with a $1 million dollar bond. James Jr. is known to be armed and dangerous.

Detectives served search warrants at 105 Park Avenue, 2613 Quail Drive and 4200 W. Bethany for evidence related to this investigation.

The Columbia Police Department would like to thank the citizens of Columbia for coming forward with information which led to the quick arrest and identification of those involved in the homicide. 

If anyone has any information on James Jr.'s whereabouts, please contact the Columbia Police Department or Crimestoppers at (573)875-TIPS to remain anonymous. We are asking you not to confront, apprehend or approach James Jr.
