The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced on Monday that it plans to replace and upgrade the traffic signal at the intersection of Worley and Clinkscales July 26 - Aug.12, weather permitting. During the upgrade, the intersection will be a standard four-way intersection with a stop sign.
Crews began to construct curb ramps at the intersection on July 18 to connect to the existing sidewalk and ensure that they are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. ADA provides comprehensive civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities in the areas of employment, state and local government services, public accommodations, transportation and telecommunications.
Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to use caution while in the work zone.
