Armed robbery in the area of Bear Creek Trail and Providence Road North

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

On 7/16/16 at 11:04 p.m., Columbia Police officers responded to 1704 Providence Road North, Eagle Stop, in reference to a robbery with a gun that occurred in the area of Bear Creek Trail and Providence Road North.

The investigation revealed five male victims, all between the ages of 18 and 24, were walking in the area playing Pokemon Go. The victims observed four to five black males standing where the Bear Creek Trail meets North Providence. The victims began to cut through the grass near the intersection when the suspects began sprinting towards the victims. At least two of the suspects brandished handguns and demanded property. One victim was struck by a suspect. The suspects obtained property from the victims before fleeing the area on foot. The victims then walked to Eagle Stop to contact law enforcement. The victim that was struck was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene.

The Criminal Investigations Division is still working to determine if this robbery is related to the robberies reported earlier this week. The investigations remain on-going and there is no further information available at this time.

The Columbia Police Department reminds citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activity to Boone County Joint Communications immediately at either 9-1-1, or the non-emergency line at (573) 442-6131.
