CPD INVESTIGATING FOUR ARMED ROBBERIES IN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS
Between the hours of 12:55 a.m. on 7/12/16 to 11:45 p.m. on 7/12/16, The Columbia Police Department investigated four armed robberies that are similar in nature. The facts in each case lead us to believe the suspects seem to be targeting college aged males. Due to the nature and circumstances surrounding these incidents we notified the University of Missouri Police Department so appropriate notifications could be made.
The following is a brief description of each armed robbery. For investigative purposes this is the only information we will be releasing at this time. Please keep in mind this is preliminary information that may change:
On 7/12/16 at 12:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to an armed robbery in the alley behind Gunter Hans Restaurant located at 7 Hitt Street.
The investigation revealed two male victims (unknown age) were approached by two black males in the alley. One male displayed a handgun and demanded their property. The suspects took the victim's property and fled the scene on foot. Officers received this information second hand and the victim's refused to make in person contact with officers.

On 7/12/16 at 1:31 a.m., officers were dispatched to an armed robbery in the 2900 block of Old Highway 63 South.
The investigation revealed two male victims, age 21 and 24, were outside an apartment in the area when they were approached by two black males. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victims demanding their property. The suspects took the victim's property and fled the scene heading northbound on foot. The victim was not injured during the robbery and the investigation is ongoing. There is no further suspect description at this time.

On 7/12/16 at 10:55 p.m., Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at Locust Street and Waugh Street.
The investigation revealed two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts approached the male victim, age 21, and demanded his property. One of the black males was armed with a handgun. The suspects took the victim's property and fled the scene on foot heading eastbound on Locust Street. The victim was not injured during the robbery and the investigation is ongoing. There is no further suspect description at this time.

On 7/12/16 at 11:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to an armed robbery in the 1300 block of Wilkes Boulevard.
The investigation revealed three male victims, all age 22, were walking near Lions Park when they observed a light colored vehicle driving very slowly around the park. The victims didn't think this was normal so they decided to walk towards their residence. As the victims were walking in the 1300 block of Wilkes Boulevard the same car passed them slowly again. The victims said the car stopped and two black males exited the vehicle and approached them. One of the black males was armed with a handgun and demanded they drop their property. The suspects took the victims property and fled the scene in a light colored vehicle heading northbound on College. The victims were not injured during the robbery and the investigation is ongoing. There is no further suspect description at this time
