Chip seal scheduled for Columbia streets July 5-15 [Update]

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced on Friday that the Street Division will continue to perform chip seal maintenance on streets previously announced. Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users can expect minor delays and should follow the instructions of flaggers and no parking signs posted in the area. In most cases, City crews plan to work on one side of the street at a time to allow for through traffic when possible. However, no parking will be permitted on the street while work is being done. Violators may be ticketed and towed at their own expense.

"This is a mobile operation," said Street Maintenance Superintendent Sam Thomas. "Oil is applied and within minutes the rock is applied. Streets can be driven on after the roller makes its passes."
