Columbia Parks and Recreation, along with the volunteers from the City's Treekeepers program, Columbia Aquatic Restoration Project (CARP), and 3M are hosting a tree planting event along the MKT Trail at 8 a.m. on November 19.
The planting will be at the site of the Urban Ecology Restoration project, east of Forum Boulevard. The project, which is funded in part by 3M, will restore the natural habitat of the area. The City's second sewer treatment facility used to be located at the site.
About 500 native trees and 500 native shrubs will be planted at the November 19 event. Refreshments will be available and participants are encouraged to park at the Forum Nature Area and walk to the site.
For more information about participating, please contact the City's Office of Volunteer Services at 874-7499.
