Scott Boulevard Project on schedule

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

On April 26, Scott Boulevard was closed from just south of the Vawter School Road roundabout to just north of Sawgrass Drive and Stone Grove Court. This section of Scott Boulevard was originally scheduled to be closed until late summer. Engineers are optimistic that the current section will be completed by mid to late August, weather permitting.

Crews will begin paving on July 5 or shortly thereafter, which should take about three weeks, weather permitting. Next, work on sidewalks and landscaping will commence followed by road striping. Mill Creek Bridge is an estimated 85 percent complete and should not delay the opening of this section of Scott Boulevard.

Some residents in the affected neighborhoods have access to Vawter School Road via Silver Valley Drive, Blue Hollow Drive and Frontgate Drive. All others are required to go south to State Route KK, which links up to Old Mill Creek Road.

With rapid and continued growth in the west and southwest areas of Columbia, planning for the development of Scott Boulevard  has been underway for many years.

The Scott Boulevard Corridor project has completed Phase I and Phase II and is currently working on Phase III, which is also divided into three sections. The section of Scott Boulevard currently under construction is section 3b, with work on section 3c, from Stone Grove Court to Leighton Drive, scheduled to begin later this summer and be completed by mid November.

In 2011, reconstruction and realignment of a portion of Scott Boulevard between West Broadway to just south of Gillespie Bridge Road, known as Phase I, was completed. Phase II, from Belleview Drive to Vawter School Road, was completed in the summer of 2015.

Scott Boulevard, from roughly State Route KK south to State Route K, was improved by a private developer through an annexation and development agreement in 2013.

The current work schedule is based on best available information when this press release is published and is subject to change due to weather or other factors. More information is available at the following links on the CoMo.gov website:
