Columbia Police officers responded to the 600 block of Hirth Avenue just after midnight today in reference to shots heard. Boone County Joint Communications received multiple calls from area residents regarding the shots.
Upon officers' arrival they located several shell casings in the roadway and near the front porch of a residence in the area. Officers located a male victim, 27, inside the residence with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical Services. He is reported to be in stable condition. The investigation is on-going.
