INCIDENT DETAILS:
The crash occurred as vehicle 1 was traveling eastbound on I-70 near mile marker 124.4 in the outside lane. Vehicle 2 was traveling eastbound on I-70 in the inside lane next to vehicle 1. Pedestrian 1 began walking across I-70 from the south side of the roadway. Pedestrian 1 was struck by vehicle 1. Upon being struck by vehicle 1, the pedestrian was thrown into vehicle 2. After being struck by vehicles 1 and 2, the pedestrian was lying on the roadway and was then struck by vehicle 3. Pedestrian 1 was transported to the University Hospital for serious but not life threatening injuries.
Vehicle 1 was believed to be a silver passenger car driven by a white male approximately 50 years of age. Anyone with information on this vehicle is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573-874-7652.
