Public Works has full crew in place preparing for snow activity

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

A full street operations crew reported at 7:00 a.m. this morning to monitor and react to road conditions. Current forecast is calling for 0.5 inches up to 2 inches of snow today. Rain will begin around 7:00 a.m. and turn into snow after 9 a.m., ending around 4 p.m. today.

Crews will focus on keeping first and second priority routes passable. Pre-treatment of salt will be used for trouble areas at 100 lb/lane mile once temperatures drop below 32 degrees.

If snow accumulations reach at least 2 inches, parking enforcement along priority snow routes will go into effect and customers will need to move their vehicles off the street. Customers can sign up for automatic alerts with Nixle at www.ComoSnow.com to be notified when accumulations reach 2 inches.

Slickness on roadways and walkways is possible and motorist and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution when traveling.

Customers can monitor snow operations at www.comosnow.com for updates, road conditions, and city treatment efforts.
