Come ride with us! GetAbout Columbia, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation, is celebrating the International Mountain Bike Association's twelfth annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 4. The event will be held at the Jay Dix Station Bike Skills Course, 2775 S. Scott Blvd.
Take a Kid Mountain Biking is an annual celebration designed to encourage communities around the world to join together to create, enhance and preserve great mountain biking experiences. Columbia's free, local event is an opportunity for parents to share the joy of off-road cycling with their families. Kids, ages 9-14, and their parents will be introduced to the ABC Quick Check, off-road riding skills, and rules of the trail. The event will include a guided trail riding, mini skills clinic and instruction on the Jay Dix Bike Skills Course. T-shirts will be available for the first 50 participants.
Participants are required to have a bicycle (fat, knobby tires preferred) in good working condition, helmet and closed-toed shoes. Cycling gloves are suggested. Registration is not required. Interested participants are encouraged to call Columbia Parks and Recreation at 874-7460 for more information or visit www.gocolumbiamo.com/ParksandRec.
