DETAILS OF INCIDENT:

The crash occurred on 09/19/2015 at approximately 3:55 P.M. as a 1997 Ford Taurus was traveling south on Scott Boulevard, approaching Smith Drive.  At the same time a 2005 Nissan Altima was traveling North on Scott Boulevard and making a left turn onto Smith Drive. The Ford crossed through the intersection as the Nissan turned west onto Smith Drive.  The Ford impacted the Nissan on the passenger side of the vehicle.  Both vehicles came to rest a few feet south of the intersection.  Ping Gui and a juvenile passenger from the Nissan were extricated from the vehicle by Columbia Fire Department personnel.

The driver of the Ford, Sophia Mosby, was transported to the University of Missouri Hospital with moderate injuries.  The four juvenile passengers of the Ford were transported to the University of Missouri Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Nissan was transported to the University of Missouri Hospital with moderate / severe injuries.  Ping and the juvenile passenger of the Nissan were transported to the University of Missouri Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Ping was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel and the juvenile remains in critical condition.

Impairment by drugs and or alcohol by either driver is not believed to be a factor at this time.
