Lane restrictions and closures; sidewalk restrictions and closures - 9th and Elm

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Construction work will require a short term and long term closure of streets and sidewalks in the area of 9th and Elm

Short Term

Beginning Wednesday, August 5 at 8:00 a.m., Trittenbach will begin capping 3 abandoned sewer service connections, making a new sewer service connection, and making a water service connection near 225 S 9th Street. This would result in a closure of the westbound and eastbound lanes of traffic on Elm Street between 8th Street and 9th Street and the closure of sidewalk on the north side of Elm Street between 8th Street and 9th Street. The work associated with this closure should be completed by Friday, August 15 at 5:00 a.m. weather permitting.

Long Term

The short term closure would be in conjunction with the proposed long term closure that would close the sidewalk on the north side of Elm Street between 8th Street and 9th Street, close the Alley north of Elm Street between 8th Street and 9th Street, and shift of the pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk to the metered parking area on the west side of 9th Street between Elm Street and Locust.  Once the short term closure is complete the eastbound lane of Elm Street would reopen to traffic as per plan with the long term closure.  The long term closures would start Wednesday August 5, 2015 8:00 a.m. and end Monday August 1, 2016 8:00 a.m.

Motorists and non-motorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone and use an alternate route whenever possible.
