Due to Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Natural Resources guidelines, Columbia Police Department can no longer accept prescription medications for disposal.
The prescription disposal bin has been removed from the CPD lobby indefinitely. The City of Columbia continues to offer residents a household hazardous waste collection at 1313 Lakeview Avenue in Columbia on the first and third Saturdays of the month through November 21, 2015, excluding Saturday, July 4, 2015.
Residents are reminded to never flush medicines down the any drain. You can visit the Missouri Department of Natural Resources link: http://dnr.mo.gov/pubs/pub2291.pdf for further recommendations on proper disposal of household pharmaceutical waste.
