Flight number and destination corrected.
American Airlines flight 3621, departing for Dallas/ Fort Worth at 1:55 PM on Monday, May 11, became stuck in a grassy area when one of the rear landing gear left the paved portion of the the taxiway.
No one was injured. The aircraft will be evaluated and removed this afternoon and overnight and then examined by American Airlines maintenance personnel.
Due to the location of the aircraft in relation to the main runway, Columbia Regional Airport is closed to all air traffic until the aircraft is removed.
Ticketed passengers for the remainder of today's flights and for early morning flights on Tuesday, May 12 should contact American Airlines Reservations at 800-433-7300 for flight information.
An update will be issued when the airport reopens to air traffic.
