The Columbia Public Works - Sanitary Sewer Utility will be conducting smoke testing on sanitary sewer lines on Thursday, May 7 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The area of smoke testing area is bounded by Broadway on the south, 9th St on the west, Walnut on the north, and 10th St on the east.
The purpose of the smoke testing is to identify sources of Inflow and Infiltration (I&I; storm water sources entering the sanitary sewer system) and to assist property owners in this block in locating sanitary sewer plumbing defects inside of buildings.
The smoke is a non-toxic product manufactured specifically for smoke testing in sanitary sewer systems.
