Due to heavy snowfall in Columbia overnight and early Monday morning, the City's curb-to-curb Para-Transit services will be closed all day Monday, February 16 while snow plow crews continue to make progress on residential streets. Customers can call Para-Transit customer service at (573)874-7290 to reschedule Para-Transit rides to a later date.
The City's COMO Connect transit staff that operate Para-Transit services says Para-Transit is designed to offer more customized curb-to-curb transportation services to qualifying customers with disabilities. This type of transportation requires the vehicles to service more side streets than the City's COMO Connect fixed route bus system, so the City must wait until the outlying and residential streets are treated and plowed and the Para-Transit vans can safely navigate them.
COMO Connect's Fixed Route Bus Service Update -
Thanks to the quick work of the snow plow crews on priority roads, the City was able to offer COMO Connect's fixed route service starting at 10am this morning since that system was intentionally laid out entirely on first and second priority snow plow routes. This route planning by city staff allows those fixed routes to be more reliable during the winter and return to normal schedules quickly during winter weather. After the late start of the fixed routes this morning, all fixed routes were able to quickly return to their normal weekday bus service schedules as of 2pm this afternoon.
Para-Transit services will be back in operation tomorrow morning.
For the latest information and timely updates today and during all winter weather events, customers will be notified on DoubleMap, twitter, and facebook.
