A tow truck driver is robbed as he stopped to offer assistance to roadside motorists.
On 01/13/15 at approximately 5:59 P.M. Columbia Police Officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of St Charles Road East in reference to a robbery with a weapon. Investigation revealed that the tow truck driver/victim reported he was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 near the East city limits of Columbia. The victim saw a vehicle pulled over on the shoulder and stopped to offer assistance to the motorists. He reported being attacked by two subjects and robbed of his cash. During the assault the victim was injured and left unconscious on the side of the highway. The victim regained consciousness and was able to drive himself to the Lake of the Woods exit and contacted law enforcement. The victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of his injuries.
The suspect vehicle was described as an older model green Ford Taurus. Suspect one was described as a white male in his 20's with a mustache, approximately 5'9" tall, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Suspect one was described as holding an object possibly a pocket knife. Suspect two was described as a heavier set white male approximately 6'1" to 6'3" wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
