Columbia Eve Fest will offer families plenty of fun festivities and high-quality entertainment, starting at 7 p.m. on December 31. Enjoy the theme of "Light the Magic!" with musical performances, children's performers, dancing and jam sessions. A children's finale will start at 7:45 with a countdown and procession to a Children's Videology Dance Party. The Grand Finale will feature a countdown and fireworks beginning at 11:30 in the "block party" area of 9th Street between Elm and Locust.
This year, the CoMo Energy Challenge will be a new feature as City departments provide displays, demonstrations, information and resources on how to go green in 2015. The Energy Challenge will be featured on the "Green Block" on 9th Street with resource tables inside the Methodist Church with games and giveaways.
Admission buttons may still be purchased in advance for Eve Fest. Buttons are available at all Gerbes Supermarkets, the ARC and the Parks and Recreation administrative office, 1 South 7th. Buttons purchased in advance cost $6; advance sales end at 4 p.m. on December 31. Buttons can be purchased at the event for $8. Kids 6 and under are free and volunteers will also receive free admission.
Columbia Eve Fest venues will be in the Missouri Theatre, Columbia Art League and the Missouri United Methodist Church. Ninth Street will be closed to traffic, offering an outdoor venue with activities, the Children's Finale and the Grand Finale. The Food Truck Cafe will return to the Shakespeare's parking lot.
And, don't forget the New Year's Day music workshops, a great way to kick off your musical goals for 2015. Details are available at ColumbiaEveFest.com (performers' page). All proceeds go to Eve Fest!
Columbia Eve Fest is a non-profit organization and is sponsored by City of Columbia, Columbia Convention and Visitors Tourism Development Program, KPLA 101.5 & KFRU 1400 Radio, KOMU-TV8, NASH FM, Missouri Arts Council (a state agency) and Columbia Parks and Recreation.
