The City of Columbia Public Works Department will host an interested parties meeting for the Flat Branch Watershed (FBW) Relief Sewers - Project 1 on Thursday, December 11. The meeting will be held from 4-7 p.m. in conference rooms 1A/1B of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. The proposed project will replace a number of smaller, aging sanitary sewers that serve some of Columbia's oldest neighborhoods and the downtown central business district with a single, larger pipeline.
Project 1 is a segment of the sewer that is proposed to follow along the MKT Trail corridor, from the university power plant to a point just beyond the Quarry Heights Lake. Information about the proposed project and the evaluation that is being undertaken to determine a sewer alignment, to minimize impacts to the trail and Flat Branch stream, and other related information will be available for public review. Staff members from the city's Engineering Division and the project design team will be present to ask and answer questions. Input received will guide the development of the sewer's alignment that will later be brought to City Council for approval.
If you are unable to attend the meeting and wish to provide comments or would like more information about the project, contact Pat Fitzgerald at 573.874.7250 or [email protected]. If contacting by email, please reference "FBW Relief Sewers - Project 1" in the subject line.
