DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
Crash occurred when vehicle 1, a 2002 Honda Civic, was traveling north on MO 763 (Rangline) approaching Elleta Blvd. Driver of vehicle 1, Moore, veered to avoid a collision with a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes of Rangeline at Elleta. Driver of vehicle 1 lost control and ran off the right side of the roadway. Just prior to running off the roadway, vehicle 1 struck 2 pedestrians who were walking north along the east shoulder of Rangline just south of Elleta Blvd.
Pedestrian 1 was transported from the scene by EMS personnel to The University of Missouri Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. Pedestrian 2 was transported from the scene by EMS personnel to The University of Missouri Hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Excessive speed, impairment and/or inattention on the part of driver 1 are not believed to be a factor.
The vehicle which driver 1 was attempting to avoid has not been located or identified. At the time of this release there are no descriptions of the wrong way vehicle.
