FOUR JUVENILES TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR A STRONG ARM ROBBERY OVERNIGHT
Columbia Police Officers took four juveniles, age 16, 14, 15 and 15 into custody at 1:10 A.M. all near the Walgreens on Broadway for Robbery in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree and Resisting or interfering with an arrest.
On 9/22/14 at 12:46 A.M., officers were dispatched to 119 Seventh Street, South Columbia Club Bar, in reference to a strong arm robbery. The investigation revealed a group of black males approached the victim and his friend asking to use their cellular phone. The victim declined and he along with another victim was physically assaulted by the suspects who then stole the victim's wallet. The victim was able to give a description of his attackers.
Officers in the area observed a group matching the description given by the victim near Walgreen's. As the officers went to make contact with the juveniles they took off running in different directions. Officers took four juveniles into custody at 1:10 A.M. after a short foot pursuit. The juveniles had two backpacks, inside was the robbery victim's wallet along with other belongings. The victim identified the juveniles as the suspects that robbed him. The male victim was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
