Customers on Vawter School Road in south Columbia will have to wait a little longer to use the new city-wide bus system that just launched August 4th due to continued construction on the Vawter School Road and Scott Boulevard intersection. The COMO Connect 8 Light Green bus route has already been on detour in the area since it started this week, and will continue the same detour pattern until it can travel east through the Vawter School and Scott intersection when the road is completely reopened in mid-September. Customers on south Scott can still catch the 8 Light Green bus at the corner of Scott and Southview, but the bus service is anxious to extend that service area even further to the neighborhoods on Vawter School Road.
"The road improvements on Scott Boulevard will be very beneficial to residents, but we will definitely be excited when it is reopened and we can offer bus service to customers in this area as well. We hope customers can be patient for just a little while longer as they complete the work." says Drew Brooks, the city's Multi-Modal Manager.
The route detour causes the bus to turn around and head back north on Scott Boulevard and turn east onto Chapel Hill, instead of continuing south on Scott and turning east on Vawter School. See attached map for details.
