The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department recently announced the winners of the department's third Photo Contest. Winners were honored at the Parks and Recreation Commission's meeting on July 17:
Grand prize winner: Rick Hansen, MKT Trail
Category - Parks and Recreation Facilities
First place: Hilary Aid, Twin Lakes Recreation Area; Second place: Tony Harris, Capen Park; Third place: Juri Kuroki, Twin Lakes Recreation Area
Category - Trails
First place: Tony Harris, MKT Trail; Second place: Jennifer Gallihugh, MKT Trail; Third place: Rick Hansen, MKT Trail
Category - Rec Programs, Sports, Events and Classes
First place: Hilary Aid, Heritage Festival; Second place: Mark Wahrenbrock, Cosmo Park; Third place: Juri Kuroki, Heritage Festival
Category - Faces and Activities
First place: Jennifer Gallihugh, Stephens Spraygrounds; Second place: Sherry Campbell, Albert-Oakland Park; Third place: Janice Poole, Stephens Lake Park

Winners received gift certificates and cash prizes. The grand prize winner will be displayed in the lobby of the Parks and Recreation administrative office at 1 South 7th Street.
Judging criteria included overall impact, originality/creativity, technical excellence, artistic merit, and relevance to the contest theme, "Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs. Photographs must have been taken at any Columbia Parks and Recreation facility, event, sport, program, or class.
The Parks and Recreation Photo Contest was co-sponsored by Grindstone Digital Imaging, Creative Photo, Deck the Walls and the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC).
