In the last two weeks, the Columbia Police Department has responded to multiple incidents involving confirmed shots fired. Houses, vehicles, and even people have all been struck by gunfire as a result of these thoughtless acts.
These incidents are taking place in our parks and residential areas. Every incident of shots fired has the potential for death or serious bodily injury, not only for the people involved but also for innocent bystanders. Officers and detectives are working diligently to address this problem and have preliminarily identified some individuals who we believe may be involved, including some with gang affiliations. The investigations into these incidents are ongoing and resources are being allocated to help stop this violence in our community.
The Columbia Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding these recent incidents to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573-874-7652 or 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
