Annual Pavement Replacement Projects to Begin on Monday, July 7

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Beginning on Monday, July 7, Columbia Public Works announces that our contractor, APAC of Missouri, will begin pavement replacement on several Columbia roads. This maintenance consists of milling the existing road surfaces and then placing a new layer of asphalt on the roadway; known as mill and overlay.

The work on the following roads is scheduled to be completed by Friday, July 11 at 5:00 p.m. weather permitting:

Green Meadows Road from Grindstone Parkway to Nifong

Green Meadows Road from Providence to the Carter Lane Round-about (watch for brief closures west of the round-about on Tuesday, July 8)

Westwinds Court from Westwinds Drive to the south end

Ash Street from Aldeah to Garth

Ash Street from West Blvd to Anderson

Anderson from Broadway north 300 feet

Texas Ave from Providence and Garth

Mexico Gravel Road from Alpine to Woodard.

If time permits, the following projects will also be compelted. If time does not allow for these projects to be completed in the week of July 7, they will be rescheduled later in the summer.

McAlester from Old Highway 63 to Ann Street

The Alley north of Broadway between 6th and 7th Streets

We understand that fresh asphalt, loose gravel, and lane closures are a hassle. However, as you navigate through work zones, please bear in mind that these workers are doing the very important job of repairing or prolonging the life of our streets, which we all rely on to safely get where we need to go. In addition, pavement preservation treatments require less time and less traffic disruption than the expensive reconstruction projects being avoided or delayed.

Please use caution in and around work zones and please allow for extra time or use alternate routes. Thanks for your patience while we work to improve Columbia's roadways.
