Arrest of Suspect Evading Police

ARREST OF SUSPECT EVADING POLICE

On 6/24/11 at 11:19 P.M., An Officer tried to stop a vehicle driven by John C. Wingate for speeding and a lane violation at College and Paris Road.  Wingate pulled onto the parking lot of 1727 Paris Road, however didn’t stop and went around the building evading the officer. The officer pulled onto the lot to discover Wingate had struck two buildings and was fleeing southbound on Paris Road in his vehicle.

As the officer was trying to catch up to Wingate, Wingate turned onto College to go northbound. Wingate struck another vehicle head on and fled on foot. The driver that Wingate struck head on was not injured in the accident. While running, Wingate jumped into a vehicle, occupied by an uninvolved female and he told her to drive. The female refused and she eventually got away from Wingate. Wingate was arrested at Fay and Wilkes Boulevard on foot for the following:

Wingate was released from the Department of Correction April of this year and is on parole for several charges to include, Driving while revoked, burglary and trafficking 2nd.  Probation and Parole was contacted and has placed a hold on him.
