First PaveDrain porous pavement installation in Missouri to occur in Columbia!

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

As part of the final phase of the 319 Stormwater Grant from the State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources, accompanied by a contribution provided by Machens Dealerships, over 5,400 square feet of porous pavement, manufactured under the name PaveDrain, will be installed at the Grissum Building. And old detention basin is being converted into a permeable underground detention area with porus pavement on top to provide additional parking spaces for Public Works employees.

The installation will take place at the Columbia Public Works Operations Facility (the Grissum Building) located at 1313 Lakeview Avenue, just west of the Columbia Municipal Power Plant. The area where the PaveDrain system will be installed is near the corner of Stone Street and Sims Street. Parking is limited. If you park on Lakeview Ave, please do not park within 1 block of Stone Street to allow semi trucks maneuvering room.

The installtion will occur rain or shine (unless there is lightning or severe weather) at these times:

Thursday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m.

Thursday, May 29 at  2:00 p.m.

Friday, May 30 at 10:00 a.m.

Stormwater educators and engineers will be on hand to speak on the 319 Grant phases and to explain in informal terms, the goal of the 319 Grant, the phasing, and the overall goals. Many opportunities for interviews, photographs, and video.
