A longboard skateboarding event, a component of Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week, will restrict parking on the levels 5 through 9 of the 5th and Walnut Parking Garage at 500 East Walnut from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11.
Patrons of the garage must have their vehicles removed from levels 5 through 9 by 5:00 am on Sunday May 11. Vehicles which are not removed by 5:00 a.m. are subject to towing at the owners expense. Patrons may park in any permit spaces on levels 1 through 4 during the event.
To accomodate skateboarding in the garage, an activity normally banned by city ordinance, council approved a special events request at the April 21 meeting which suspends the ordinance at the 5th and Walnut Garage from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11. The organizers of the event were also required to submit a valid liability insurance certificate which was accepted by council as a component of the ordinance.
