Columbia Police Investigating Armed Robbery
On 04-05-14, at 4:03 A.M., Columbia Police officers were dispatched to
2500 South Old Highway 63, apartment 1123, in reference to an armed
robbery. The 20 year old female victim reported she was in her room with
a male friend when another male entered her room armed with a handgun
at around 3:30 A.M. The armed suspect demanded property from the
victim but only got her cell phone. The suspect then left with her cell
phone. The male friend then left stating he was going after the suspect and
did not return.
Columbia Police Detectives responded and took over the investigation.
During the investigation the male friend was identified as Jared Hemme,
20, and the suspect with the handgun was identified as Leonard Neves,
19. Probable Cause was developed to arrest Hemme and Neves for the
Robbery.
Hemme was arrested at 8:00 A.M. at the police department for First Degree
Robbery, to be set bond.
Neves was arrested at his residence, 120 Antelope Drive, at 3:00 P.M., for
First Degree Robbery, First Degree Burglary, Armed Criminal Action, and
Unlawful Use of a Weapon, all bonds to be set.
A search warrant was served at Neves residence and the stolen cell phone
was recovered.
No mug shot photos are available at this time.
This is still an active investigation and more arrests are possible.
