Vehicle 1, a 2012 Toyota Rav 4 driven by Caroline Hargis, was traveling southwest
on Route B turning left to travel south on Highway 63. Vehicle 2, a 2004 Dodge Ram
driven by Michael Jones, was traveling northeast on Route B. Preliminary investigation
reveals that Vehicle 1 failed to yield to Vehicle 2 while turning left at the intersection.
Vehicle 2 struck Vehicle 1 within the intersection on the passenger side resulting in
a t-bone crash. Vehicle 1 collided with a signal pole off the roadway after impact with
the truck. Vehicle 1 sustained total damage and Vehicle 2 sustained heavy front end
damage, and both were towed from the scene. The Columbia Fire Dept. extricated
both occupants from Vehicle 1. Mr. Hargis was transported from the scene by EMS to
University Hospital for serious injuries, where he remains in serious, but stable condition
at the time of this release.
