DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
Crash occurred when vehicle 1, a 2000 Chevy S-10 Pickup, was traveling west on
Broadway approaching Thistledown Dr and vehicle 2, a 2010 Toyota Tundra, was
traveling east on Broadway approaching Thistledown. Vehicle 1 lost control due to the
snow covered roadway, crossed the center line, and struck vehicle 2 head on.
Driver 1 had to be extricated from the vehicle by Columbia Fire Department personnel
and was transported from the scene by EMS personnel to The University of Missouri
Hospital for life threatening injuries.
Driver 2 and both passengers in vehicle 2 were transported from the scene by EMS
personnel to The University of Missouri Hospital for minor injuries.
Speed to fast for conditions, alcohol/drug intoxication, and/or inattention on the part of
driver 1 are believed to be a factor. Driver 2 voluntarily submitted to a chemical test of
his blood, however it is not believed driver 2 was impaired at the time of the crash.
Results of both driver 1 and driver 2 pending lab analysis.
Summons/Charges: Pending investigation
