Snow Operations Update - Sunday, February 2, 7:30pm

Columbia Public Works road crews have successfully treated residential roads with salt in 100% of Columbia sub districts as of 6:30pm Sunday evening, and an 8-person overnight crew and inspectors will be double checking residential roads and cul-de-sacs that may have been missed. If customers believe their road might have been missed by this weekend's salting equipment, they can call 573-874-6289 to report it.

Overnight crews will also be maintaining passable conditions on 1st and 2nd priority routes and monitoring road conditions for possible refreezing in some areas due to dropping temperatures. In slick areas on both priority and non-priority routes, crews will be using a liquid calcium chloride to help ice melt, and possibly cinders for added traction on extra slick areas if necessary.

Morning commuters should still use extreme caution on roadways, as some slick areas still exist and allow plenty of extra time for their drive.

Public Works is tracking the possibility for more precipitation entering the area Monday night and Tuesday and making the necessary preparations.  

Customers took to the City's social media pages for updates on road progress and to comment on the roads. A progress map for residential streets on the city's snow website, www.comosnow.com, was showing all sub-districts treated with salt so it has now been cleared to prepare for the possibility of the next incoming snow event.
