Columbia Regional Airport has reopened runway 2-20 for flights after
severe winter weather hit mid-Missouri Friday night.
Airport maintenance crews worked non-stop to clear ice from airport runways, and their hard work paid off when runway 2-20 was finally cleared and ready for flights to resume early Saturday morning.
Airport Manager, Don Elliott, reports that crews used sodium acetate to clear runways, an FFA approved runway deicer. The deicer was able to battle the slick conditions and allow flights to safely resume for customers.
Customers can check their flight status at FlyMidMo.com, or by checking with their carrier.
