Columbia Public Works is preparing for an incoming winter weather event. Crews have already pre-treated bridges, hills and curves on priorty routes yesterday with salt brine, and depending on developing conditions, may have crews out pre-treating roads later today. Trucks will be loaded and prepared to respond to changing roadway conditions.
The current forecast is for freezing rain and/or a wintery mix to enter the area this afternoon, possibly early afternoon. It is anticipated that pavement conditions will significantly deteriorate through the evening and overnight, and customers should use caution if they have to travel.
We also encourage our customers to sign up for Priority Snow Route alerts at Nixle.com and check the notification box for "Columbia Public Works."
Monitor our activities and road conditions via our facebook and twitter feeds or on our new website at www.comosnow.com.
