The City of Columbia Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division is featured in the current issue of WasteAdvantage Magazine.
The article highlights the City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility as a full service operation which provides refuse and recycling collection, materials recovery, composting, a sanitary landfill which utilizes bio reactor technology and sells landfill gas to the electrical production bio-energy plant on site, and a vast community volunteer network which assists with waste reduction activities.
"The Solid Waste Division is very proud to be highlighted in a national publication such as WasteAdvantage Magazine", said Cynthia Mitchell, the Solid Waste Utility Manager with Columbia Public Works. "We believe the partnership we have built with our community along with the excellent staff in Public Works, allows Columbia to be on the forefront of many exciting challenges in the municipal solid waste field."
