Arrest Made In Domestic Assault

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

                                 Arrest Made In Domestic Assault

On 1/14/14 at 4:10 A.M., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Pear Tree Circle in reference to a disturbance.  Joseph L. Bradford, 45, forced open the front door of a residence he had moved out of a month ago. Bradford chased the female victims, ages 24 and 53, through the house and punched the 24 year old female victim with his fist. While the 24 year old victim was holding her one year old child Bradford struck the child in the head with his elbow. Bradford put the 24 year old victim in a head lock on the floor while she was holding her one year old child.  Bradford got up and retrieved two steak knives from the kitchen but put them down.

 Bradford went outside and returned to the residence with a butcher knife.  Bradford went after the 24 year old victim with a butcher knife and she locked herself in a room.  Bradford walked out of the residence and officers were outside telling him to turn around and get on the ground. Bradford refused and told officers to shoot him.  Bradford was told several times to get on the ground and was handcuffed only after a taser was deployed.

 The 24 year old female victim had scratches and bumps. The juvenile victim had a minor bump on the face. The 53 year old victim did not have any injuries.  Bradford did not have any injuries from the taser deployment.  Bradford and the victims know each other.

  Bradford was arrested for Armed Criminal Action with a to be set bond, Burglary in the first degree with a to be set bond, Domestic Assault in the second degree with a bond of $4,500.00, Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the first degree with a bond of $4,500.00, and a felony Probation and Parole warrant for parole absconder with no bond set.
